Hundreds of thousands of computers, monitors, cell phones, televisions, and other electronic items are replaced in the state of California each year. This e-waste is both valuable as a source for secondary raw material, and toxic if treated and discarded improperly.
California State University Fresno is partnering with Electronic Recyclers to provide several upcoming convenient recycling solutions for the general community of the Central Valley. Community drop-off dates have been scheduled for Saturday, December 16, 2006 & Saturday, January 20, 2007. The collection on each date will be held from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. in the university's parking lot S, just south of Bulldog Stadium on Bulldog Lane, west of Cedar Avenue.
TVs and computer monitors will be accepted at no charge, while all other electronic waste will be subject to a fee of $.25 per pound. Cash or checks will be accepted. Drop offs may not be left in the lot unless an attendant is present. Loads greater than 500 pounds require prior notification and approval.
Past events have served more than 350 customers and accepted more than 30,000 pounds of e-waste per event.
