AGENCY SPOTLIGHT

This column features a different agency each month. If you would like to feature your agency in an upcoming issue, please contact Lori Jacobsen at 488-3857.

Chrysalis House

Chrysalis House Adoption Agency has just celebrated its 21st birthday. We have been a licensed, full service, non-profit adoption and foster family agency since 1985. The purpose and vision of Chrysalis House is to place children with caring families. We help families adopt both domestically and internationally with programs that match adoptive families with birthmothers, children from the foster care system whose permanency plan is for adoption and children from many foreign countries.

Through our many international programs we have assisted families with adoptions from China, the Philippines, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Nepal, Guatemala, Vietnam, Armenia, and Korea ... to name just a few. We are the only adoption agency in Fresno that has a license to deal directly with the Chinese government and the Chinese Center for Adoption Affairs. We are listed on their website as one of only 8 agencies in the State of California (www.china-ccaa.org).

In addition to our International Adoption Programs, Chrysalis House offers assistance to families wishing to adopt children from the foster care system. By working with social service programs throughout the state, we are able to match families with children whose legal status makes them eligible to be adopted. Our collaboration with various social service agencies and the court system allows us to identify children who are far along in the legal process and whose status minimizes any threat to disrupting the adoption. By adopting through our Foster-to-Adopt program, families become eligible for a home study subsidy and the adoption assistance program from the State of California.

Please join us for an informational meeting on January 9, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. Call our office for more information or for reservations.

For information about growing your family through any one of our adoption programs, please call us at (559) 229-9862 or toll free at (866) 27ADOPT.
