39th Annual Mennonite Relief Sale |
|
The Fresno County Information and Referral Network has recently become aware of an advertisement that has been received by several of our local nonprofits offering a free 2006 non-profit organization guide for sending your updated information. This advertisement has been mistakenly identified by a few agencies as coming from Fresno I&R, so we decided to do a little research on this free directory.
The advertisement comes from International Directories Corporation in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It states that by returning the page you are eligible for a free copy of the 2006 National Non-Profit Organization Guide. Then it asks for your current agency information and provides a line for your signature. You are instructed to return the form to them by fax or mail.
The fine print below the signature line should be read very carefully before deciding to participate in this free offer. Upon signing the form and returning it to International Directories Corporation you must enclose $189 or be billed for $199. This fee is called an inclusion fee to cover their costs.
The Fresno County Information and Referral Network offers a website that includes information on non-profit agencies in Fresno County. There is no charge to use this service or to have your agency information included on the website. Please contact Joe, Lori or Jason at 488-3857 to have your agency included on the I&R website or with any questions you may have.
(This column looks at a wide variety of resources that are available on the World Wide Web. If you have Web sites to feature you think would be of assistance to others, please contact Joe or Lori at 488-3857.)
